EPA Section 608 Testing
Testing and certification of stationary equipment technicians on the proper handling of refrigerants controlled by EPA regulations under section 608 of the Clean Air Act of 1990.
TECHNICIAN TYPES:
I Technicians who install or service small appliances.
II Technicians who install or service high or very high pressure appliances.
III Technicians who install or service low pressure appliances.
IV Universal Technician (Passed Types I, II, and III).
TEST:
The EPA Section 608 test is a closed book test intended to measure a technicians basic knowledge of refrigerant containment laws set by the Clean Air Act. It covers modern service, installation, and disposal practices for refrigerant bearing appliances and the proper use and maintenance of refrigerant related tools. Questions are also included which require knowledge of how and why refrigerants are effecting our environment.
The test is from VGI, an approved EPA testing agency. Each applicant will select the technician type(s) for which they are testing. Applicants answer only the questions in the type(s) for which they are testing. There are 25 questions per technician type with a total of 100 questions. The test is closed book with a 1 hour 30 minute time limit.
STUDY GUIDE:
Reviews the refrigerant containment regulations for recovery and recycling procedures and all other information needed to pass the EPA exam. Includes Practice Test.
TRAINING:
Training is optional. A two hour training session can be given before the test.
CERTIFICATION:
A Certificate of Completion and laminated wallet card will be issued from VGI upon passing.
